Mother and Pepi

Overview

A support service available to Mothers and their Pepi/baby, partners and Whanau. The aim of the service is to provide education, support and advice to mothers during Pregnancy and following birth through regular contact and home visits for 6 weeks postnatal. The Mother and Pepi Kaimahi work in collaboration with other maternity providers to educate on topics including:

·        Care during pregnancy;

·        Smoking reduction/cessation & smoke free environments;

·        The effects of Alcohol & Drug abuse;

·        Exercise & Nutrition;

·        Preparation for birth;

·        Bonding  & attachment

·        Mother craft and  Baby care;

·        Breastfeeding.

Tamariki Ora/Well Child

Overview

The Tamariki Ora/Well Child service is a screening, surveillance, education and support service offered to all New Zealand Tamariki and their whanau/family from birth to 5 years. It assists whanau to
improve and protect their Tamariki health.

The aim is to support in maximizing Tamariki developmental potential and health status between 0 - 5 years, establishing a strong foundation for ongoing healthy development.

Entry to the service will commence at the time of formal handover by the lead maternity carer (LMC) or where there is no LMC, directly from the hospital.

Whanau Ora

Overview

A team of registered nurses offer support, education, advice and care in all health areas including:

·        Comprehensive health assessments;

·        Planning health care interventions and management;

·        Linking/ referrals to other services as required;

·        Whanau Health plans and goals;

·        Community Health Promotion & Health checks including Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose levels.

Is a free Service that provides foot care and Mirimiri/massage for our 60+ age group Kaumatua/ Kuia/elderly.

Child Car Restraint Hire Purchase Scheme

Hire Purchase Scheme

·        The child car restraints are suitable for tamariki/children from birth to four years, and are available through a hire purchase scheme.

·        The total purchase price is $220.00 per child car restraint.

·        A $20.00 deposit, an automatic payments authorization form, and a credit check form are to be completed before the car restraint is given.

·        An automatic payment over 20 weeks at $10.00 per week are then debited from your nominated account.

·        The car restraint can be returned within two weeks if any
manufacturers faults are found, and a replacement or refund will be given.

·        We have staff available that have been trained in Safe-to-Go Child Seat Safety who can answer any questions that you may have.  

·        If you are on a WINZ benefit, you may be eligible to have your child car restraint paid by WINZ.  For further information about this, please contact your Case  Manager.

The Gym

Create your own work out, have our Health and Fitness promoter Carlene Pickett help you with a programme or join the classes held three nights a week. The gym service is free, open from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm every week day and easy to sign up. Fill out an intake form and have a health assessment carried out by one of our nurses and you are able to use the gym!
